Role:

Drives and develops a dynamic Employee Services team dedicated to hiring and building a skilled base of loyal employees who in turn support the credit union’s vision of having the most loyal members in the nation. Assumes ownership in the areas of employment, recruitment, compensation, employee relations, performance management, regulatory compliance, performance management and/or training.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

25% Serves in an Employee Relations capacity and acts as a general resource to all employees in providing guidance or answering questions related to employment at Rogue Credit Union. Listens to problems, identifies root cause through analysis of the situation and makes appropriate recommendations. Provides coaching advice and guidance on disciplinary actions and employee evaluations within authority. Reviews proposed documentation and works with managers to ensure sufficiency in supporting documentation and the appropriate level of discipline. May conduct disciplinary meetings, serve as a witness in disciplinary meetings including terminations, or assist in investigations. Ensures employees are treated in a fair and equitable manner while keeping the best interest of the credit union in mind. Conducts exit interviews and termination meetings as applicable. Maintains records and prepares reports.

 

25% Manages and oversees recruitment activities seeking to create a diverse workforce. Provides guidance to recruiters and personally participates in recruitment activities as needed, ensuring process, paperwork accuracy and timeliness. Collaborates with managers in making job offers, approving pay rates within guidelines and authority. Oversees other recruitment processes and activities including pre-employment testing, applicant credit reports, job fairs and the HRIS (Human Resources Information System) Recruitment Module.

 

20% Works closely with the Vice President of Employee Experience to develop and successfully complete all department projects, goals and initiatives. Assists with researching and developing new programs, products, and services and with managing key vendors. Prioritizes data collection and analysis, in all areas of responsibility related to key performance indicators and budgets, in order to make evidence based decisions.

 

10% Oversees new and existing job description development. Ensures that job descriptions are formatted properly, in compliance and contain Rogue specific wording. Assists in writing roles, essential functions and determining job requirements including experience, education, skills and abilities. Researches, analyzes and recommends appropriate wage grades for positions using independent judgment and resources available. Participates in salary surveys.

10% Oversees department staff, providing training and coaching as needed. Recruits, hires, trains, coaches and motivates a highly qualified staff sufficient to meet the daily operational needs of the areas assigned. Establishes and maintains objective accountability measurements and evaluates performance on all direct reports. Creates and maintains a coaching culture to consistently strive toward the highest level of employee achievement and performance in building Member Loyalty.

 

5% Provides human resources related training for management or staff as assigned. Develops course content and related training or presentation materials. Identifies managers and other supervisors needing additional support and/or training.

 

5% Proactively performs other duties as assigned.

1. Supports and practices Rogue’s Vision, Mission, Values and Loyalty Culture. Utilizes and upholds the Service promises with both internal and external members Utilizes the Loyalty Filter in making decisions and embraces Rogue’s community involvement.

 

2. Stays abreast of and demonstrates knowledge in employment laws. Monitors compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity and applicable laws. Ensures all areas of responsibility are in compliance with the credit union guidelines and relevant Federal and State regulations.

3. Builds engaged relationships with team members through trust, task-related support, and direct communication. Demonstrates empathy, self-reflection, and adjustment of own behaviors, showing effective emotional intelligence.

4. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in the recruitment process and in creating a diverse workplace. Effectively recruits qualified applicants and is skilled in interviewing/hiring qualified candidates who are also a good culture match. Stays on top of openings and responds to requests/details in a timely manner. Demonstrates good judgment in all aspects of recruitment. Demonstrates accuracy in related spreadsheets and new hire paperwork. Produces timely and meaningful reports.

 

5. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills. Has the ability to influence and gain buy-in among staff for organizational change.

 

6. Demonstrates wise fiscal responsibility and accountability to support the financial soundness of the Credit Union. Consistently reviews budget to actual results and credit union financials monthly, to ensure accuracy and business cases for expenses. Proactively investigates invoices and vendor charges for accuracy of charges and clearly explains variances.

 

7. Demonstrates empathy, self-reflection, and adjustment of own behaviors, displaying effective emotional intelligence.

8. Applies creative problem-solving to provide clarity, handle resources under one’s objectives timelines, and quality measures with minimal errors while building and sustaining effective relationships. Is professional in presentation.

9. Has excellent organizational and time management skills. Effectively manages multiple priorities priorities and stays on top of workload and projects. Works efficiently and minimizes down time. Demonstrates skill and good decision making when exercising independent judgment.

 

10. Maintains a cohesive, highly trained, motivated staff sufficient to meet daily department demands.

 

11. Uses independent judgment and discretion when determining ad placement, screening, interviewing, and applicant selection.

 

12. Meets or exceeds assigned goals in order to achieve individual, department and credit union goals. Stays informed of current trends within the credit union movement and financial services industry.

13. Adheres to and maintains all credit union promotional, regulatory and policy compliance requirements including compliance with any Federal and State laws.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Three years to five years of Human Resources experience. A generalist background in human resources preferred.

 

Education: Equivalent to a college degree (BS or BA in a relevant field). Knowledgeable of applicable laws and regulations. Human Resources certified and/or formal training preferred.

 

Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.

Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, and extensive reading.

 

Work Environment: This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. This position may require occasional attendance at meetings or events in the evenings or on weekends. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery. Travel to all credit union regions may be required.
