Job Description:
Essential Functions
- Deliver complete, accurate, detailed, and timely accounting work at all times.
- Closely manage the overall finance, accounting, and internal controls functions of the credit union to ensure appropriate deliveries and maintenance of all accounting systems/functions and internal controls.
- Manage all GL related matters, including but not limited to AP, prepaids, clearings, and accrual GLs and schedules, in a timely/effective/efficient manner.
- Timely recommend the deposit and loan rate determination for the credit union and report appropriately to the CFO.
- Oversee all organizational audits, including but not limited to the NCUA exams, external financial audits, ACH audits, and wire audits, and be the main liaison to the examiners/auditors. Deliver audit/exam materials timely.
- Lead in ALM Modeling analysis and what-if scenarios for different investment, loan, and share decisions to optimize the credit union portfolio.
- Lead in delivering a final annual budget by November 30 of each year reflecting the annual strategic plan, working closely with other departments and the CFO.
- Provide monthly budgetary variance report to the CFO.
- Review and recommend changes and improvements to credit union policies as necessary to further the objectives of the credit union, and if applicable, to mitigate unnecessary risks.
- Manage all vendors/servicing partners related to all accounting and finance functions, including but not limited to FHLB, Federal Reserve, and Alloya Corporate CU.
- Oversee and ensure payroll processing functions are completed timely.
- Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
- Ensure cash management at branches are within the effective limits and determine that the cash levels reflect the necessity, not overstocking on cash at branches.
- Oversee timely reporting/filing of all the required reports/returns/forms to the regulatory agencies, including but not limited to the 5300 report, FR 2900, escheatment, and IRS reporting.
- Make sure the posting of checks, ACH, and any other processing functions are completed timely as necessary for the credit union operations.
- Responsible for all accounts payable and fixed assets functions and manage effectively to obtain the best possible pricing and schedule wherever and whenever possible.
- Efficiently manage all expenses and reduce/cut whenever possible.
- Ensure all GLs, bank and corporate check records, and other financial records are reconciled in a timely manner.
- Provide analytical reports in all areas of the credit union to the leadership team.
- Manage 3rd party relationships that are related to all responsible areas.
- Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to all written procedures necessary to create consistencies in all operations under the areas of responsibility.
- Initiate, develop and lead projects that are related to the areas of responsibility.
- Prepares reports as requested by the Board or the CEO/CFO. Inform CEO/CFO of all operations, conditions, and influencing factors.
- Support fully the credit union culture as established by the CEO.
- Actively support and promote WyHy core values, mission and vision statements, and staff commitment.
- Other duties as assigned by the CEO/CFO.
Supervisory Functions
- Support Accounting Department and any 3rd party partner.
- Set accounting department and individual accounting staff member goals.
- Manage the accounting staff, to include staffing, scheduling, workflow, supervision, performance management and coaching.
- Maintain positive energy within the department, with positive and timely customer service to internal and external customers.
Membership and Appointments
- Member of Management Asset Liability Committee (MALCO).
- Member of Asset Liability Committee (ALCO).
- Member of Risk Management Committee (RMCO).
- Member of Internal Compliance Committee (ICC).
- Member of the Crisis Management Team (CMT).

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance and/or Accounting. Equivalent work experience may be substituted for educational requirements.
- At least seven years’ experience in a credit union or other financial institution in accounting area. CMA/CPA can substitute 2 years of experience,
- Five years or more experience at a supervisor/manager level
Preferred Education and Experience

Position Requirements
- Core operating hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. MT, Monday – Friday. May require occasional travel, sometimes overnight, as well as after-hours functions.
- Requirement to be bonded. Successful background check including personal credit report and criminal record.
- Maintain an active community presence via volunteerism, social, trade and credit union organizations, etc.
