Commercial Credit Analyst
Job Description:
YOUR PURPOSE
Under moderate direction, this position will be responsible for research and credit analysis for commercial loan requests. Performs quantitative and qualitative credit analysis and underwriting for commercial loan requests. Works with commercial lending officer(s) to understand and measure the risks associated with both new and existing member relationships.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
- Support the Commercial Relationship Officer to accomplish established loan goals.
- Conduct credit investigations, credit and loan analysis, underwriting and other documentation information pertaining to loan analysis.
- Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services, credit bureaus, other companies, main office files, and branches.
- May meet with and interview existing and prospective members to develop a strong understanding of the loan request and the business relationship to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information received for loans and loan renewals.
- Analyze financial statements and related material and makes recommendations for approvals of credits.
- Analyze financial conditions and trends, reviews and reports non-compliance with loan covenants.
- Determine cash flow using appropriate tax analysis.
- Prepare summaries, presents facts, and offers opinions concerning credit-worthiness and any risk items or issues.
- Provide credit information and references for members, Commercial Relationship Officer, or other agencies as requested.
- Ensure that all credit files include current financial statements, agency reports, etc.
- Maintain integrity of commercial loan files including appropriate scanning, maintenance of physical file, stacking order, etc.
- Assist Commercial Relationship Officer in the preparation of credit memos that summarize lending opportunities, the associated risks, and the proposed loan structure.
- Assist Commercial Relationship Officer in performing annual reviews, pre-qualification assessment, and analysis of financial condition and risk of financing requests
- Perform commercial real estate processing and servicing functions as needed
- Responsible for follow up of all affirmative loan covenants and ticklers in a timely manner
- Knowledgeable of products and services, and successfully develops new and existing business relationships.
- Demonstrate proficiency with spreading for all types of business and personal financial statements using SageWorks.
- Maintain control over current accounts, noting payment progress, watching for any developing problems, and keep Commercial Relationship Officer informed.
- Keep abreast of all new credit regulations and laws and ensures compliance with such.
- May assist with projects as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.

EXPERTISE YOU NEED
Education & Experience
Four-year degree (BA, BS) in finance, business, accounting, or a related field or equivalent experience (2 years of credit/financial analysis, lending, underwriting or other directly related experience). Minimum of two years’ experience in business lending, financial services industry preferred.
Capabilities
- Working knowledge of most MS Office applications, including expertise with Word & Outlook.
- Working knowledge of financial and spread analysis, credit, lending and underwriting processes and principles.
- Working knowledge of credit risk, legal and regulatory requirements.
