Collections Insurance Specialist
Job Description:
YOUR PURPOSE
Responsible for administering the collateral protection insurance process, payment protection insurance claims/services, and total loss vehicle administrative functions. Position will also support some inbound collection calls when the department is short-handed.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Administrative
- Print weekly CPI (collateral protection insurance) reports and administer the process: recalculate payments after premiums post, make payment adjustments after premium refunds post, and coordinate with members, vendors, and insurance companies to resolve issues.
- Acts as custodian for documents related to these activities, mail correspondence, receive payments and credit member accounts.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure information remains secure and confidential.
Member Focus
- Serves as the point of contact to oversee our payment protection insurance and supports members throughout the claim process and providing the necessary follow-up for the member to finalize the claim.
- Process total loss insurance claims. Work as a liaison between insurance companies and members and as necessary, impound issues.
- Responsible for maintaining an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge of all related policies, procedures, products, rules and regulations affecting the Credit Union and Collections Department.
- Constantly seeking workflow improvements and sources for automation so as to increase efficiencies.

- Technologically savvy, competent and able to use Microsoft products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, FrontPage), XP system and Nautilus.
- Organized, dependable, attentive to detail, a self-starter and professional.

The full pay range for this position across all the states in which we hire is $23.90-$35.85/hour. The figures shown represent the minimum and maximum range for this role. Individual offers are made dependent upon a candidate’s experience, education, and skill level.

EXPERTISE YOU NEED
Education & Experience
- Minimum of two plus years’ administrative experience preferable in a financial institution. Three years of experience working within a collections environment is preferred. Consideration will be given to related experience and/or training.
- High school diploma or GED certificate.
Capabilities
- Working knowledge of most MS Office applications.

ABLE TO
To perform the essential functions of this position an employee must be able to meet the following workplace demands: ability to converse with others, detect sound, identify and detect objects, count, read, write, operate a computer, handle and feel objects, reach with hands/arms and be stationary and/or stand and/or move for long periods of time. Occasionally an employee will lift/pull/push and carry up to 25 to 50 pounds, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb and be able to maintain balance doing these activities. Position requires sound reasoning, good judgment and ability to apply knowledge toward work activities. The noise level is moderate and typical of a normal office environment.
