Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect delinquent accounts through telephone calls, letters, and notices
- Initiate legal proceedings when necessary
- Work with loan servicing manager(s), attorneys, and attorneys’ assistants to resolve accounts
- Track and report on collection activity
- Coordinate the repossession of assets, work with insurance for filing claims and other tasks related to collections of funds on write off accounts.
- Manage a member list of outstanding accounts
- Work on month end write offs and recoveries to meet hard deadlines
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
- Proven ability to promote a positive and cooperative environment with members
- Proven ability to establish and maintain productive relationship with coworkers
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Recommend collection actions or negotiate payment plans with member whose accounts are in the arrears
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Represent the credit union in a courteous, honest and professional manner and maintain confidentiality with all member and critical data.
- Adhere to Loan Servicing policies, procedures and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:
Performs assigned duties with minimal direct supervision once proper training is completed.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office Products and other Database software.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- Familiarity with the credit union systems, preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, customer service, verbal and written communication.
- Previous collection experience with at least two-year background.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
