Job Description:

CFO Role: To direct the financial affairs of the Credit Union; to establish major economic and financial objectives and policies for the Credit Union
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Oversees and directs all aspects of budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, purchasing, real estate, and insurance activities. Prepares and evaluates budget and capital plans
  • Prepares financial reports; ensures complete and accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union. Oversees reporting to regulatory authorities and the Board. Works with auditors/examiners on annual comprehensive audits.
  • Works directly with Credit Union vendor for quarterly balance sheet analysis. Analyze financial forecasts and required cash flows.
  • Directs the Credit Union’s investment activities as custodian of funds, securities, and assets of the organization; promotes the Credit Union in financial markets to ensure sources of capital. Provides safekeeping, control, and accounting for assets and securities.
  • Oversees data processing and accounting departments; hires, trains, directs, and evaluates employee performance within the departments; approves promotions, transfers, and salary adjustments.
  • Writes, reviews, and distributes financial policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory and policy compliance
  • Implements and reviews risk management initiatives.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience: Five years of similar or related experience.
  • Education: (1) A bachelor’s degree Business Administration, Finance, or Accounting, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor’s degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
  • Interpersonal Skills: Work frequently involves exercising advanced conflict resolution, giving material presentations, and resolving issues impacting multiple departments or divisions. Role also requires the ability to motivate or influence others as a material part of the role, with a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the role and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position.
  • Other Skills: (1) Excellent analytical skills, people skills, and self-direction are required. (2) Must be proficient with accounting, computers, spreadsheets, and word processing software. (3) Credit Union background preferred but not required.
  • Physical Requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
Job Type: Full-time/Exempt
Schedule: 8:30 AM-5:30 PM/Monday-Friday
Pay: Competitive Salary/100,000 annually DOE
