BSA Specialist
Job Description:
Essential Duties:
- Review OFAC hits as identified in Verafin (or other system) and work to clear those hits or elevate the hit to management.
- Work assigned Verafin alerts related to transaction monitoring. Alerts should be decisioned timely and referred for further review when warranted.
- Work the daily Excessive Cash Report and Verafin CTRs to ensure that CTRs are completed and accurate before timely submission to reviewer.
- Participate in case meetings to determine if SAR filings are required and complete SARs as assigned that are timely and accurate.
- Perform reviews of accounts to determine that Member Identification Program (MIP) requirements were met at account opening.
- In cooperation with management, proactively support the enhancement of the Credit Union’s BSA compliance and training program.
- Partner with other areas within the Credit Union to proactively identify fraud patterns, notify law enforcement of known fraud, and provide information to management relating to identified fraud.
- Assist in the completion of risk assessments.
- Respond timely to staff and member inquiries via phone or email related to areas of responsibility. Assist in response to complaints of non-compliance as needed.
- Assist in maintaining and updating information in iQ Help, Information Desk, Portal and other knowledge databases.
- Work effectively and cooperatively with other staff, management, committee members and members to achieve common goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate strong regulatory knowledge applicable to this position and understand and comply with government regulations with particular emphasis on the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), US Patriot Act and related regulations.
- Actively participate and fulfill expectations in the Credit Union Email Security Awareness Program as outlined in the Information Security Program Acknowledgement document.

Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
Three to five years of similar or related experience.
Education:
A two-year college degree or (2) completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
