Assistant Asset Protection Manager

Full-Time 40 Hours per WeekClass 1 – Exempt

Salary Range:$53,341.68 To 66,677.10 Annually

Role:

To inspire loyalty and direct/create outstanding member experiences in the Asset Protection Department while supporting Rogue’s Vision, Mission and Values. To assist in hiring, scheduling, training, and monitoring the work of specialty Counselors. Proactively supports the Asset Protection Department staff by aligning strategic department goals with the Member Solutions Department to ensure loan quality by following Asset Protection Policy and Guidelines.

 

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

40% Oversees and assists in management of the Member Solution Department. Mentors and keeps staff up to date on current trends and other industry changes. Hires, coaches and manages a highly qualified staff sufficient to meet the needs of the areas assigned. Establishes an effective training program for both department and member facing employees to ensure high level servicing. Maintains an efficient and effective workflow for employees to ensure all available tools are utilized. Establishes and maintains objective accountability measurements and evaluates performance on all direct reports. Creates and maintains a coaching culture to consistently strive toward the highest level of achievement and performance for every employee. Motivates a highly qualified staff. Directly assists Asset Protection Manager with training and staff development for Member Solutions.

 

25% Contacts delinquent accounts by phone and mail in a support role to specialty counselors. Takes appropriate action to bring current. Analyzes financial situation of delinquent borrowers; makes recommendations to repossess collateral when other arrangements to bring the loan current are unsuccessful. Provides direct oversight to recovery of charged off assets.

 

15% Directly assists the Asset Protection Manager in all aspects of service and support. Ensures that internal and external members are being provided with exceptional service experiences and that their needs are being promptly met to inspire loyalty. Maintains accurate files and reports on all collections proactively.

 

10% Stays current on applicable regulations, credit union policies, operational controls, safety measures, service, and security procedures to ensure compliance throughout assigned areas of the credit union. Manages the collection software, ensuring all versions are up to date as well as compliant. Communicates frequently with the Asset Protection Manager and Senior Vice President of Consumer and Mortgage Lending about trends in the loan portfolio. Prepares daily, weekly, and/or monthly reports on collection activity for management with focus on the Asset Protection Committee Reports. Informs management of trends in loan underwriting contributing to delinquent/charged off loans.

 

5% On behalf of the credit union, prepares for and testifies at legal proceedings as required.

 

5% Proactively performs other duties as needed or assigned.

 

Performance Measurements:

1. Supports and practices Rogue’s Vision, Mission, Values and Loyalty Culture. Utilizes the Service Promises with both internal and external members. Embraces Rogue’s community involvement program in a positive and proactive manner. Supports and espouses the credit union’s guiding values.

2. Ensures timely contact of members with delinquent loans.

3. Maximizes the collection and/or recovery of credit union assets from delinquent and charged-off loans to meet budgeted financial goals for both delinquent and net charge off ratios. Meets all other department goals as assigned.

4. Works as a team with the other lending function supervisors/managers to ensure that lending operations work efficiently and effectively.

5. Provides friendly, professional and accurate service and supports all members, employees and dealerships.

6. Provides direction and recommendations to management, based on current research data and the credit union’s Strategic Business Plan. Develops recommendations for cost efficiencies and enhancements to policies, procedures, and processes by monitoring trends in collections.

8. Completes performance reviews within the prescribed time frame.

9. Ensures that all collection activity is legal and follows credit union policy, keeping management informed of operational issues affecting collection’s activities.

10. Demonstrates empathy, self-reflection, and adjustment of own behaviors, displaying effective emotional intelligence.

11. Adheres to and maintains all credit union promotional, regulatory and policy compliance requirements including compliance with any Federal and State laws.

12. Meets or exceeds assigned goals in order to achieve individual, department and credit union goals. Stays informed of current trends within the credit union movement and financial services industry.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: (1) A two year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprentice program.

Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Skills: Strong supervisory, PC (technology), compliance, leadership, written and verbal communication, and critical thinking skills.

Physical Requirements: Some adjusting or moving objects up to 30 pounds in all directions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers while using computer. Communicating with others to exchange information. Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and make fine discernments in sound. Close and continuous visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.

Work Environment: This job is an exempt position that requires flexibility in scheduling tasks and projects. The employee must independently monitor hours and judge the time needed to be spent on applicable duties. Employee must be capable of adjusting to unpredictable schedules proactively. As a direct representative of the credit union, the employee must conduct and present themselves courteously and professionally. Travel to all credit union regions may be required. Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, i.e., robbery.
