Accounts Control Loss Prevention Specialist I
Job Description:
- Follows up on negative accounts and delinquent loans via telephone, personal contact, and correspondence to secure a satisfactory resolution to the repayment situation. Utilizes effective human relation skills and various forms of persuasion to present a positive credit union image in an already negative situation. Calms irate members and answers member questions member questions and complaints relevant to collection functions. Determines reasons for delinquencies and works toward permanent solutions. Minimizes losses by early collection efforts. Utilizes further appropriate collection methods if initial attempts fail to secure required payment(s).
- Suggests consolidations, extensions, workout loans, financial counseling and repossessions as needed. Has the ability to think independently and utilizes decision making abilities for effective collection results. Performs collection efforts in accordance with OCCU’s policies and procedures and ensures OCCU remains legally compliant.
- Assumes responsibility for the efficient administration of collection activities. Prepares thorough written recommendations for charge offs, extensions, and settlements and workout loans. Acts on notification of impounded vehicles to protect OCCU’s interest. Keeps accurate, complete, and up to date electronically stored collection comments on potentially late, and delinquent loans and documents all collection actions taken, including telephone conversations, alternative financial arrangements and correspondence. Researches loan accounts that appear on late and potentially late, to ensure that credit union errors are detected and corrected promptly.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relations are established and maintained with OCCU members and external contacts. Maintains OCCU’s professional reputation in all actions. Maintains confidentiality establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with OCCU personnel. Keeps management informed of activities, progress towards established goals and any significant issues.
- Attends and participates in meetings as required. Related duties as required and assigned. Stays informed of changes in OCCU’s collection policies, procedures and related legal requirements. Actively and professionally cross-sells OCCU’s services. Ensures that work area is clean, secure and well maintained.

Salary
$20/hour – $24/hour DOE
