FUTURE ECONOMY: GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES
Keynote

Andrew Busch || Economist, Author, Speaker, Former CMIO to the U.S. Government

The world is going to see more economic change in the next 5 years than we have seen in the last 100 years. Just as the US was getting over the worst of COVID, Russia invaded and China shutdown ports due to COVID. War in the Ukraine, inflation soaring, interest rates spiking, exponential advances in artificial intelligence, supply chains crashing are all examples of the speed of change. But how did we get here? More importantly, where do we go from here? As a futurist and economist, Andy dives deep into exploring how innovation, policy changes and societal shifts (war) drive opportunities for clients. He provides context by doing a “where we’ve been, where we are and where we’re going” for the economy. He takes the trends super charged by COVID & war, then applies them to your industry via a case study to show where money is flowing, and opportunities are growing.

Beyond the Podium

Small CU Workshop, When life happens, financial access is key. Do you know where your members turn for cash when there’s more month than money or unexpected expenses arise? It should be your credit union, not a payday lender.

During this session, we’ll discuss the important role credit unions play in protecting their members’ financial futures, driving financial inclusion and improving the well-being of underserved communities.

Takeaways: Why financial inclusion matters. How relationship-based, small-dollar lending plays a part. What your credit union can do to better serve those who are underserved. How this could impact your credit union’s future success.

Demystifying Innovation
Master Class

“Innovation is too risky…there’s no way we’d ever get budget for that!” “Why change? The way we’ve always done things works just fine for us.” “Let’s just put our employees in a room with beanbags and let them brainstorm.”

Have you come up against these types of responses when you mention innovation at your credit union?

In this deep-dive masterclass, Andrew Downin, chief strategy and growth officer at Vantage West CU, will show you how to overcome these objections, and you’ll practice techniques used by the most innovative credit unions to develop an early, innovative solution for a shared consumer challenge.

At the end of this highly interactive session, you’ll walk away with tools you can begin using to set your credit union up for success on its innovation journey.
