Posted by Alyse Knudsen on October 28, 2026
Unitus Community Credit Union has ranked No. 2 in the Portland Business Journal’s Large Category for corporate giving, moving up three spots from No. 5 last year. The recognition is based on $505,317 in charitable contributions across Oregon and Southwest Washington in 2025.
The ranking marks the 16th consecutive year Unitus has been recognized among the region’s top corporate givers. The Large Category includes businesses with annual revenue of $50 to $100 million.
Unitus’ award-qualifying regional contributions represent nearly $1,400 a day invested in local communities. Beyond the award’s regional criteria, Unitus provided $585,047 in total donations and sponsorships in 2025, supporting more than 80 nonprofit organizations. Its global contributions totaled $655,672 in cash and in-kind support, including 1,723 volunteer hours by Unitus employees in 2025.
The rankings were announced Oct. 22 at a Portland Business Journal awards luncheon in Portland.
“We believe in investing in the communities our members call home,” said Aimee Berg, Vice President Community Development and Financial Wellness. “We’re proud to work alongside nonprofit partners working to expand opportunities and address local needs, and to support that work with both our dollars and our time.”
Among the more than 80 nonprofit organizations supported were:
- Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Foundation/Credit Unions for Kids
- Junior Achievement of Oregon and SW Washington – Junior Achievement BizTown
- Marion Polk Food Share/AWARE Food Bank
- Metro/East – Mobile Media Lab
- Thimbleberry Collaborative Farm – Farm-to-Clinic Program
- Marion Polk Food Share – Facility Expansion
- Randall Children’s Hospital Foundation – Cares NW Expansion
- Urban League of Portland
- Western Oregon University Foundation
- World/Oregon
Amanda Martinez, Thimbleberry Collaborative Farm Executive Director, said Unitus support has boosted their farm-to-clinic program helping 400 clients access low-cost medical care and 6,500 pounds of food from a farmstand and nutrient-dense meals made by Milk Crate Kitchen.
“We are honored to be working alongside Unitus to fight local food insecurity,” Martinez said.
In addition, Unitus invested $62,000 in scholarships in 2025, helping expand educational opportunities through its annual Unitus Scholarship program and partnerships including Hispanic Metropolitan Chamber Latino Scholarship Fund, Oregon Consular Corps Scholarship Fund, and Wester Oregon University’s Bilingual and Diverse Teachers Scholars Program.
