Numerica Credit Union Announces Funding Priorities for Heroes Fund

Numerica Credit Union recently shared an update on its Heroes Fund, outlining how its $1 million, 10-year commitment is already making a difference for veterans, active-duty service members, and their families across the Inland Northwest.
In partnership with Spokane County Regional Veteran Services (SCRVS), Numerica has identified six funding priorities that will guide future Numerica Heroes Fund investments:
- Veteran housing and homelessness prevention
- Mental health and peer support services
- Employment and financial stability programs
- Veteran and family support services
- Legal aid and benefits navigation
- Community events and veteran recognition initiatives
“These priorities reflect what we’ve heard directly from our partners and the veteran community,” said Carla Cicero, Numerica President and CEO. “We’re committed to investing in programs that create stability, opportunity, and connection for those who have served, and this gives us a clear roadmap to do that in a meaningful, long-term way.”
Since announcing the Numerica Veterans Arena naming partnership and Numerica Heroes Fund commitment last year, Numerica has worked alongside SCRVS and the local Veterans Advisory Board to identify high-impact opportunities that align with community needs.
One early investment includes a $50,000 grant to Vets on Lacey, a supportive housing community for veterans in Spokane operated by Volunteers of America of Eastern Washington. The community opened in January and provides stable housing and support services for previously homeless veterans.
“Our partnership with Numerica allows us to expand the reach of programs that directly, honorably serve veterans in our community,” said Cat Nichols, Director of SCRVS. “Together, we’re able to identify where the needs are greatest and invest in solutions that make a real difference.”
The Numerica Heroes Fund will also support programs and events that recognize and engage veterans and military families throughout the year, including:
- SkyFest Military Preview at Fairchild Air Force Base on June 5
- Veterans Stand Down at Numerica Veterans Arena on Oct. 3
- Veterans Day Ceremony at Numerica Veterans Arena on Nov. 11
Additional Heroes Fund investments are expected to be announced later this year.
“Memorial Day is a time to reflect and honor those who have served,” said Cicero. “It’s also a reminder of our responsibility to support veterans and their families, not just in moments of recognition, but through sustained, meaningful action.”
