HELOC Fraud Brought to Committee

As the legislature enters the final week of session, the standing committee’s have begun meeting to discuss interim study topics. Among the topics discussed by the Joint Corporations, Elections and Political subdivisions committee on Tuesday were public records and property deed fraud.
Bobbie Frank, GoWest, took the opportunity to raise the issue of home equity line of credit fraud and encouraged the committee to consider the fraud issue as part of their ranking of interim topics and in their discussion of property deed fraud. Frank also raised the issue of some counties offering property deed fraud alert notices, however, not all counties are able to offer the service.
The committee will rank the interim study topics submitted for consideration and final topics will be reviewed and approved by the management council after the session ends.
