Wyoming Senate rejects Appropriations Committee budget bill

Today marks second reading in both the Senate and the House on the state’s budget bills.

The Senate right off the bat took a bold and definitive move to amend the budget bill prepared by the Joint Appropriations Committee and revert the budget to the Governor’s proposal submitted to the Joint Appropriations Committee back in November. The Senate will consider a total of nineteen second reading budget amendments.

A similar move in the House failed, with the Freedom Caucus voting lock step to oppose the amendment. The House is likely to work into the late hours tonight and possible early hours of tomorrow with 122 second reading amendments.

Thursday is scheduled for third and final reading of the budget bill and Friday is the deadline for bills to pass General File in the House of Origin.

GoWest continues to work on priority legislation including crypto kiosk, portable benefit account, money laundering, and second amendment financial privacy act legislation.
