CDFI Funding Maintained in House-Passed Appropriations Bill; Senate Up Next

This week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed an appropriations bill which included funding for the Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program, maintaining the funding level of $324 million from FY 2025 with no cuts.

The Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) program is a critical tool in helping credit unions ensure that communities have access to the investment capital and financial services they need to prosper. Credit unions represent the largest group of certified CDFIs, representing 444 of 1,375 nationwide.

The Senate’s Financial Services and General Government appropriations bill also holds funding for the CDFI Fund at $324 million. The GoWest Advocacy Team will continue to advocate for full funding as congressional appropriators negotiate an agreement on federal government funding.
