Posted by Bobbie Frank on August 11, 2025
On Aug. 7, the Wyoming Board of Deposits approved the first seven credit unions as eligible public depositories in Wyoming. With the enactment of SF 143 in the 2025 session, credit unions are now permitted to hold public deposits.
Credit unions must apply to the State Treasurer’s office and get Board of Deposits approval to hold public deposits.
As of last Thursday, the following credit unions have been authorized to hold public funds:
- First Education FCU
- Grand Altitude FCU
- Meridian Trust FCU
- Pathfinder FCU
- StagePoint FCU
- Trona Valley FCU
- UniWyo FCU
The next Board of Deposits meeting is Oct. 2, and the deadline for applications is Sept. 12.
Approved depositories are also eligible to participate in the State Treasurer’s Time Deposit – Open Account program. In 2024, the program deposited over $520 million in eligible financial institutions.
