Unitus Community Credit Union has been awarded Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) Silver Certification for its Unitus Business Center (UBC)-Tigard in Oregon. Recognized as the most widely used green building rating system, LEED certification represents a significant achievement in sustainable building design and environmental stewardship. Earning Silver certification places UBC-Tigard among a select group of high-performing buildings that meet rigorous standards for sustainability, occupant health, and energy efficiency.
In partnership with design-build firm Momentum, Unitus implemented wellness and sustainability-focused design and construction strategies that contributed to its LEED Silver achievement. Among project achievements were credits for enhanced indoor air quality strategies, interior lighting, and the use of low-emission materials, ensuring a healthier and more energy-efficient workspace.
“Obtaining LEED Silver certification is an integral part of our shared values in caring for People and Planet. This accomplishment encapsulates the hours of planning, construction, and documentation between the Unitus Facilities Team and Momentum,” said Steven Stapp, President and CEO of Unitus Community Credit Union. “The Unitus Board, staff, and members appreciate the high standards that were achieved, as this serves as an important cornerstone of our environmental sustainability stewardship.”
UBC-Tigard is located adjacent to five acres of on-site wetlands, which Unitus has committed to conserving as part of its broader sustainability efforts. Complementing this natural area, Momentum developed outdoor community spaces featuring sustainably grown laminated wood timbers, native landscaping, and active amenities, including a pickleball court and putting green.
