Early engagement in Natrona County

Natrona county legislators spent time learning about Wyoming’s credit unions and top priority issues last week.

Thursday was a jam-packed day of advocacy outreach starting Brandon Smith, Meridian Trust FCU and Bobbie Frank, VP of Legislative Affairs having coffee with Representative Steve Harshman.  Harshman has served in the legislature for many years and was former speaker of the House.

Then Smith and Frank joined Kianna Smith, UniWyo FCU and Tyler Disburg, Pathfinder FCU to meet Representative – Elect Elissa Campbell.  Campbell was elected to fill the seat vacated by Representative Jerry Obermueller.

Smith, Disburg and Frank then met over lunch with Representative Rachel Rodriquez-Williams from the Cody area while she was in Casper for the Joint Judiciary Committee meeting. Representative Rodriquez-Williams is the new Freedom Caucus Chair and has recently announced her intent to run for House Speaker Pro Tem. She also shared she is a credit union member.

The afternoon included Disburg, Frank and Stephanie Aristonic, Pathfinder FCU having coffee with Representative-elect Jayme Lien who beat Tom Walters in the primary and Representative-elect Julie Jarvis who ousted Freedom Caucus member Jeanette Ward in the primary.

Emphasis will continue on outreach and engagement as additional legislative meetings are scheduled across the state leading up to the 2025 legislative session.
