Job Overview
The Vice President, Lending and Compliance is a key leadership position responsible for shaping and executing the credit union’s lending growth strategy. This role emphasizes innovation in lending services while maintaining strict adherence to risk management practices and regulatory compliance. Additionally, the VP will play a critical role in supporting BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) compliance efforts, making this position an excellent development opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the executive team to set annual lending goals and implement strategies to serve underrepresented markets (e.g., ITIN holders, low-income individuals, and people of color).
  • Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to adjust lending strategies and maintain competitiveness.
  • Oversee the loan portfolio, balancing growth, member service, and risk, while regularly evaluating credit risk, delinquencies, and recoveries.
  • Act as the primary loan underwriter, managing loan processes to ensure compliance, proper controls, and segregation of duties.
  • Champion compliance by developing policies, conducting team training, and ensuring adherence to BSA, AML, and other relevant regulations.
  • Oversee compliance audits for lending departments and collaborate with the CEO to maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies.
  • Lead and mentor the lending team, fostering a member-centric approach and promoting continuous learning and accountability.
  • Ensure team development by providing coaching, professional growth opportunities, and nurturing talent within the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in lending
  • Experience serving underserved populations
  • Knowledge of federal and state lending regulations
  • Experience relating to credit union compliance and internal controls
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak the English language

This role prefers the following experience:

  • Prior experience with Bank Secrecy Act compliance preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred

Pay: $75,000.00 – $92,000.00 per month
