BIOGRAPHY:

Chris Kemm is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in political affairs and public policy. As GoWest’s AVP of Political Affairs, Chris collaborates closely with credit union members, professionals, volunteer board members, and community organizations to foster credit union legislative and political advocacy. Chris’s expertise lies in the development, organization, and implementation of comprehensive strategies, including the utilization of social media, to achieve political, legislative, and regulatory objectives.

With a background as a Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) and more than 25 years of involvement in public policy, political mobilization, and grassroots education, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge to his role. Previously, Chris served as the National Legislative and Political Representative for a 13-state region with the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO. In addition, he held executive board positions in notable organizations such as the Denver Area Labor Federation and the Colorado AFL-CIO.

Chris actively contributes to his community through his high school coaching positions, involvement in many community initiatives, as well as being on the board of several local organizations. He is also a distinguished veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy from 1992 to 1998 and in the active-duty reserves from 1998 to 2001. His notable achievements include receiving the Navy Achievement Medal for Project Management, the Vice President’s Gold Hammer Award for Partnership/Collaboration from the United States Department of Treasury, and the Union Builder of the Year accolade in 2004 with the American Federation of Government Employees, AFL-CIO. Chris’s coaching prowess has also earned him recognition as a two-time Colorado All-State Coach, four-time Coach of the Year, and winner of 16 league championships.
