Colorado Students Awarded Brayman Beach Scholarships

Two Colorado students were recently named the 2024 recipients of the Brayman Beach Scholarship. Magdalena Burkholder of Denver and Laine Kougl of Arvada each received a $5,000 scholarship after being selected for their outstanding honors, awards, extracurricular activities, and leadership positions in high school and the community.

The Brayman Beach Scholarship is named in honor of Susan J. Brayman and Carroll D. Beach, two visionary leaders of the credit union movement whose contributions have made a lasting impression. This unique scholarship opportunity celebrates their commitment to the community by investing in Colorado youth and, in turn, the future of the credit union movement.

2024 Recipients

Magdalena Burkholder is a member of Credit Union of Colorado, graduated from Denver North High School, and will be attending Indiana University Bloomington’s Kelley School of Business.

Laine Kougl is a member of Bellco Credit Union, graduated from Ralston Valley High School, and will be pursuing a business management degree at Montana State University.

The Brayman Beach scholarship is a fund of the GoWest Foundation that is awarded annually to two credit union members in Colorado seeking a four-year bachelor’s degree in business from an accredited college or university during the upcoming school year. The selection process is managed by leadership and volunteers of the GoWest Foundation. Applications are reviewed based on criteria such as academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, references, financial need, and personal and professional goals.
