Our Community Credit Union President and CEO to Retire

Bert Fisher, president and CEO of the Shelton, Washington-based Our Community Credit Union, will retire on Dec. 31. He has held the role for 13 years.

Ryan Drake, currently chief financial officer, has been appointed by the board of directors as his replacement. He will be promoted to CEO on July 1 to begin the transition.

Fisher’s long and successful career with the credit union began in 2005 when he was hired as chief operation officer. He was appointed president and CEO in 2011 to replace Joe Robertson, who retired after 35 years of employment at OCCU.

Fisher has been an active part of the credit union industry — particularly with the GoWest Credit Union Association, which serves credit unions in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado, and Arizona —and as an advocate for credit unions at both Capitol Hill and the community.

Today, under Fisher’s expert leadership and guidance, the credit union has grown from just over $200 million in assets to more than $600 million in assets and 35,000 members.

Drake joined the OCCU leadership team in 2012 when he was hired as chief financial officer. As CFO, he oversees Accounting, Lending, Informational Technology, and the Compliance Department, and immersed himself in all phases of the credit union’s operations.

Drake has over 22 years of experience in the credit union industry and has been an active member of the communities OCCU serves. He serves on the Governmental Affairs Committee at GoWest and has lobbied for credit unions on numerous occasions in Olympia, Washington, and in Washington D.C.
