Fibre Federal and Red Canoe Credit Unions Team Up for Doernbecher Days

Fibre Federal Credit Union and Red Canoe Credit Union are joining forces this October for Doernbecher Days, a monthlong fundraiser benefiting OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Throughout the month, donations can be made at all Fibre Federal and Red Canoe locations by purchasing a $10 plush monkey, sponsoring a Children’s Miracle Network hospitals balloon icon, or making a general donation of any amount.

The collaboration continues a 40-year tradition of credit unions working together to support children’s hospitals through Credit Unions for Kids (CU4Kids).

“Credit unions share a belief in People Helping People, and teaming up with Red Canoe gives us an opportunity to put that philosophy into action in an even bigger way,” said Heather Snyder, AVP Marketing & Community Development at Fibre Federal. “We’re bringing our teams, members, and communities together around one shared goal: helping Doernbecher provide exceptional care for local children and families.”

“There is nothing more difficult than watching a child face a serious medical crisis,” said Amy Davis, VP Marketing at Red Canoe. “Supporting CU4Kids has been a long-standing tradition for credit unions in Southwest Washington and we’re excited to join forces with our good friends over at Fibre Federal for their annual Doernbecher Days event.”

Doernbecher Days runs October 1–31 at all Fibre Federal Credit Union and Red Canoe Credit Union locations. Community members do not need to be credit union members to donate.

CU4Kids began in the Pacific Northwest in 1986, when several area credit unions joined together to raise funds for an employee’s child facing a medical crisis at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Since then, the program has grown into a national collaboration among credit unions to cooperatively support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Over the years, Pacific Northwest credit unions have raised over $19 million to fund some of Doernbecher’s most pressing priorities in pediatric care, research, and facility improvements and expansion. Through ongoing support from CU4Kids fundraisers like Doernbecher Days, children and families throughout the region can continue to count on Doernbecher for specialized care when they need it most.
