Governor Polis Vetoes Interchange Bill

Governor Jared Polis took the significant step of vetoing SB26-134, legislation that would prohibit interchange on sales taxes in Colorado. We have spent the last two years engaging at a deep level on this issue at the Capitol working with the sponsors, lawmakers, and other impacted stakeholders to highlight the direct impacts to card issuers and broader payments system.

This action is a direct result of the work that Colorado Credit Union advocates have taken. Most recently, GoWest had the opportunity to meet with the governor and directly express our perspective during his comprehensive assessment of the policy issue and legislation. The investment of time, resources, expertise, and community leadership highlighted the problems with this policy, and we cannot thank you enough for this work.
