Wyoming to Form Task Force on Escalating Health Insurance Costs
Posted by Bobbie Frank on April 15, 2026
The Management Council, at the request of Representative Lloyd Larsen, Fremont County, supported the formation of a special task force to explore the escalating health insurance costs in the state of Wyoming. Representative Larsen shared examples from small businesses in his district who are experiencing an explosion in health insurance premiums.
This Joint Labor, Health and Social Services committee will be reviewing the Rural Health Transformation Program, health care provider shortage and accessibility in health care, behavioral health problems, and cancer treatment. The Management Council determined that the committee had a full plate and a special Task Force would be warranted to focus specifically on health insurance costs.
The Task Force will include members from both houses, the Wyoming Hospital Association, the insurance industry, the Department of administration and information and insurance commission.
Increasing health insurance benefit costs have been impacting employers across the state. This Task Force will provide the opportunity to provide input on the impacts to businesses and help identify remedies.
