Management Council to Set Interim Topics

The Management Council will meet next week to review and approve standing committees’ proposed interim topics and schedules, setting the direction for their interim work.
The standing committee topics relevant to Wyoming’s credit unions include the Joint Corporations Committee’s top priority – fraud protection. This includes deed fraud and title theft, fraudulent liens, and filing related to real property.
The Joint Labor Committee ranked workers compensation as its top priority, including a review of Wyoming’s workers compensation laws. They will continue the discussion on the Rural Health Transformation Program.
The Joint Education Committee ranked a review of Wyoming’s educational “basket of goods” as its top priority, which would include a review of life skills contained under “common core of skills.” Life skills include financial literacy.
The Joint Minerals Committee’s top priority is a comprehensive review of the Wyoming Business Council and economic development. Sixth on their list is a review of the Uniform Unclaimed Property Act and potential modernizations to the statute.
The Select Committee on Blockchain, Financial Technology and Digital Innovation Technology will evaluate state engagement with technology, including incorporation of digital asset technology in state and local government systems. They will also evaluate legislation to restructure the Wyoming Stable Token Commission into a Wyoming Digital Asset Authority. If approved, they will also evaluate integration of the Frontier Stable Token into Wyoming commerce, taxation, and state government processes. Data privacy and data ownership is also a proposed topic including consumer data privacy. The Committee also proposes to review the implementation of House Bill 75 – Virtual currency kiosks and consider statutory refinements.
