Another day another deadline, two weeks to go in Washington session

The Washington State Legislature has entered the final stretch of the 2026 legislative session, with just two weeks remaining before lawmakers adjourn.
Last night marked an important procedural milestone, as the deadline passed for bills from the opposite chamber to clear a policy committee. That cutoff continues the process of narrowing the universe of legislation still eligible for consideration, allowing legislators to focus on the measures most likely to reach the finish line.
Attention is now increasingly centered on the state budget. Earlier this week, both the Senate and the House released their respective budget and revenue packages. Each chamber is expected to vote on its proposals in the coming days, setting the stage for the final phase of negotiations.
While floor action will continue, the most important work will happen largely behind the scenes, as budget writers and leadership from both chambers work to reconcile differences and merge their proposals into a final agreement. As always, the closing days of session tend to move quickly, with major decisions often coming together at the last moment.
Credit union priorities remain well positioned but your team remains focused on ensuring it remains that way and will keep everyone posted as the process continues.
