GoWest’s Lynn Heider Recognized in National Nonprofit Communications Awards

GoWest is proud to share that longtime Vice President of Communications and Public Affairs, Lynn Heider, who retired from the Association in June, has been recognized with an Honorable Mention in PR Daily’s 2025 Nonprofit Communications Awards. The annual awards program highlights exceptional communications professionals across the country who advance the missions of nonprofit organizations through strategic storytelling, media relations, and impactful campaigns.

Heider, who retired from GoWest after 14 years with the Association, is an outstanding nonprofit communications professional whose leadership, strategic vision, and storytelling expertise have significantly amplified the voice of credit unions across the GoWest region. She led high-impact initiatives that enhanced member engagement, elevated thought leadership, and strengthened advocacy efforts on behalf of more than 300 credit unions and their 17.4 million members.

She continues to be a trusted partner to member credit unions, often addressing media inquiries on their behalf and collaborating with them on strategy and messaging. Her ability to communicate complex issues in clear, compelling ways has both influenced policy and strengthened connections across the Credit Union Movement.

“When you see the great work that PR professionals all over the country are doing to celebrate their clients, it is certainly a humbling experience to be nominated alongside some of them for a PR Daily Award,” said Heider, reflecting on this recognition. “It’s an honor to have represented the work of credit unions for 14 years, telling the stories of their service to people and communities and evangelizing the impact of the not-for-profit, cooperative financial services model. However, the credit should really go to the entire team at GoWest, a group of amazingly talented and passionate people who live to support credit unions.”

Lynn’s passion for communications began early — she recorded her first radio commercial as a child and later worked at her father’s radio station in Indianapolis. Her career in journalism and broadcasting spanned three decades, with roles as a reporter, investigative journalist, anchor, and newsroom leader in cities across the country before she brought her expertise to GoWest more than 13 years ago. Since then, she has worked tirelessly to ensure credit unions have a strong, influential voice in the communities they serve.
