Unitus Community Credit Union‘s President and CEO, Steven Stapp, has been named the 2025 recipient of the Renée Sattiewhite Neoteric Changemaker Award. The honor was presented at the 48th CU Leadership Convention in Las Vegas.
The national award recognizes leaders who advance the Credit Union Movement through bold action, innovative thinking, and purpose-driven leadership. Named after Renée Sattiewhite, President and CEO of the African-American Credit Union Coalition (AACUC) and the first recipient of the award, it celebrates trailblazers who embody the true spirit of “People Helping People” while inspiring positive change across the industry.
“The Renée Sattiewhite Neoteric Changemaker Award celebrates leaders who are shaping the future of our movement, and we are thrilled to see Steven honored in this way,” said Dennis Sullivan, CU Leaders Chairman. “His vision and dedication to innovation and inclusivity continue to make a lasting impact at Unitus and across the credit union community.”
“I am honored to receive this award. Renée has led our movement in so many ways; transforming how we serve our members and communities, as well as how we interact with each other,” remarked Stapp. “The CU Leadership Convention gave us the chance to connect with peers across the country, leaving us inspired and energized to apply new ideas that will benefit our members.”
Stapp has served as President and CEO of Ore.-based Unitus since 2016, leading the credit union’s efforts to expand access to financial services, strengthen community partnerships, and drive innovation in support of members and the broader industry. The World Council of Credit Unions presented Stapp with its Distinguished Service Award in July, the international credit union system’s highest honor.
