Guided by Experience, Driven by Purpose: Meet the 2025 YP Leads Mentors
Posted by Alyse Knudsen on May 21, 2025

YP Leads at MAXX is a standout feature of GoWest’s annual credit union experience — and for good reason. Each year, the program thrives thanks to the dedicated mentors who invest their time and expertise to support the next generation of credit union professionals. The 2025 mentor group is especially impressive: these leaders have not only risen through the ranks but most have experienced YP Leads firsthand as past participants, making them uniquely equipped to guide and inspire this year’s cohort.
The deadline to apply for YP Leads is June 20.
Eighteen YP Leads (three from each GoWest state) will receive complimentary registration to MAXX 2025 in Portland, Ore., where they’ll attend sessions and events, as well as participate in an orientation with GoWest staff, sharing stories and hearing from an inspiring keynote speaker. In addition, each YP Lead benefits from a yearlong mentorship, collaboratively designed by the mentor and mentee during MAXX.

“What excites me most about being a YP Leads mentor is the chance to relive the magic of my own experience and help reproduce that same spark in my mentee. I get to follow in the footsteps of my own mentor, someone I deeply admire, and pass along the lessons that shaped me. Supporting the next generation strengthens not just the individual but the credit union movement as a whole. I can’t wait to get started.”
Angel Vazquez, Branch Manager, Campco Federal Credit Union

“The most rewarding aspect of being a YP Lead mentor is the chance to give back while continuously challenging myself to step beyond my comfort zone. In doing so, I hope to encourage my mentees to embrace new opportunities and discover the growth that comes from discomfort. I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors throughout my career, and I strive to apply the knowledge and skills they’ve shared with me to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders.”
