Idaho Credit Union Legislation Heads to Governor Little’s Desk for Signature

Exciting news for Idaho credit unions! Last week, the Idaho House of Representatives unanimously passed Senate Bill 1103 (S1103), which removes a long-standing cap on the amount of money Idaho credit unions can accept in state deposits. This significant piece of legislation was drafted and run by GoWest along with help from Idaho Treasurer Julie Ellsworth.
Additionally, the Senate unanimously passed House Bill 181 (HB181) on Thursday. HB181 updates a small section of the Idaho Credit Union Act, requiring Idaho credit unions to register with the Secretary of State’s Office and submit their original and amended articles of incorporation after approval by the Idaho Department of Finance (IDOF). For those who need to go through this process due to the new legislation, we are collaborating with IDOF to streamline it, as you will be required to attach a confirmation letter from IDOF.
Finally, this morning, House Bill 323 (HB323), known as the Report and Hold legislation, passed the Senate floor and is now headed to Governor Little’s desk for signature. This legislation, brought forward by AARP and collaboratively drafted and presented with GoWest, provides Idaho credit unions with another valuable tool to protect their members from increasing fraud and abuse.
A huge thank you to everyone who helped GoWest get these important pieces of legislation across the finish line!
