Julie Cayse Appointed NCUA Western Region Director

Julie Cayse has been appointed as the new Western Region Director for the National Credit Union Administration, succeeding Cherie Freed following Freed’s retirement.

“Cayse brings a wealth of experience and expertise to this critical role, along with a reputation for leadership that credit unions in the region can rely on,” said John Trull, vice president, regulatory affairs for GoWest Credit Union Association.

Cayse began her career with the NCUA in 2010 as an examiner and has steadily advanced through the organization, taking on increasingly significant responsibilities. Her roles have included, Supervisory Analyst, Supervisory Examiner, Director of Supervision, and most recently, Associate Regional Director for the Western Region, where she oversaw the region’s exam specialists. This extensive experience has provided her with insights into the unique challenges and opportunities facing credit unions in the Western Region

“GoWest has worked closely with Julie in her previous roles and found her to be responsive with timely communication and engagement with stakeholders, ” Trull said. “She has been open to dialogue and collaboration on important issues and has been approachable, and solutions oriented, a leader who listens, understands, and works diligently to address concerns, making her an ideal partner for credit unions.”

It is expected that Cayse’s leadership style and skills will serve her well as Western Region Director. Her ability to balance regulatory priorities with the unique needs of credit unions will ensure that the Western Region continues to thrive.
