Wyoming Legislative Leadership 2025

This weekend Wyoming’s Republican Legislative Caucus convened in Casper to elect the 2025 legislative leadership.

With a deeply divided Senate with three factions of the republican party, all eyes were on the Senate leadership outcome. This fall, Senators Larry Hicks, Cheri Steinmetz, and Brian Boner issued a press release announcing their intent to run for senate president, vice president, and majority floor leader respectively. Public announcements of this sort are out of the norm with most of the campaigning done behind the scenes within the legislative body.

Ultimately the ultra-conservative and moderate factions of the body came together and elected Senator Bo Biteman, Ranchester, as president, Tara Nethercott, Cheyenne, as majority floor leader, and Tim Salazar, Riverton, as vice president. Biteman and Salazar both represent the more conservative faction of the Senate with Nethercott viewed as a moderate.

This slate will be voted on at the beginning of the session by all members of the Senate including the two Democrat Senators, Chris Rothfuss and Mike Gierau.

On the House side there was less wrangling as the Freedom Caucus picked up the majority of the House. Representative Chip Neiman, Hulett, was elected house speaker, Scott Heiner, Green River, was elected majority floor Leader, and representative Jeremy Haroldson, Wheatland, was elected House speaker pro tempore.

We are expecting committee member appointments to be announced at any time.
