Relationships, the Key to Advocacy

Having or developing relationships with our state legislators is imperative to a successful advocacy program. GoWest will be prioritizing continuing to develop these relationships between Wyoming’s credit unions. To help coordinate these efforts, each credit union has an advocacy coordinator to help internally organize your credit union’s advocacy efforts. Helping to identify your credit union’s key contacts, individuals able and willing to reach out to legislators, introduce yourself, and connect is a critical component of this strategy. If you have not appointed a key contact for each branch location, we encourage you to do so by the end of May. Having a key contact in every credit union location will elevate our voice across the state.

With the election filing deadline coming up, opening May 16, and closing May 31, credit unions are also encouraged to reach out to any candidates and introduce yourself and learn about your candidate’s priorities and their thoughts on the credit union and the priorities for Wyoming credit unions. For a summary of the current legislative priorities, feel free to email [email protected].

On April 25, GoWest held an Advocacy Coordinator and Key Contact Training. If you missed it, you can view the training here. Visit Wyoming’s legislative website for more information on your legislators.
