Communities in Six States to Benefit from Merger of Two Powerful Organizations
January 16, 2024
We are excited to share that effective Dec. 31, 2023, the GoWest Foundation and Consumers United Association have merged.
This significant milestone marks the increased capability of two not-for-profit organizations coming together with the intention and resources to propel the credit union community forward.
The integration of the two organizations received a unanimous vote of approval from both boards. GoWest Foundation will be the continuing organization.
Chief Impact Officer and Foundation Executive Director Sharee Adkins said, “The merger will significantly strengthen the Foundation’s impact in communities in our six-state region, including Colorado. Through our credit union-powered initiatives that currently include workforce housing, rural access to financial services, and disaster relief, GoWest Foundation will have more resources to strengthen communities.”
Consumers United Association was founded in Colorado in 1999 with a mission to improve consumers’ financial lives through education and advocacy.
“It became clear that the mission of the Consumers United Board could have greater impact through a merger with the GoWest Foundation,” says Arick Williams, former Board Chair of Consumers United Association and CEO of Columbine Federal Credit Union. “We are excited to move forward together to achieve next-level success.”
As a part of the merger agreement, Williams is joining the GoWest Foundation Board of Directors.
