Celebrating Landmark Financial Education Bill with Oregon Senator Wagner

Senator Rob Wagner took time over the holidays to celebrate the momentous victory of Senate Bill 3 in the 2023 legislative session with Oregon Credit Unions.

SB3 adds a requirement of one half-credit of higher education and career path skills and one half-credit of personal financial education to statutory coursework requirements for regular high school diploma beginning January 1, 2027.  The bill defines higher education and career path skills as well as personal financial education for the purpose of establishing content standards.

Several Oregon credit union executives spent some time in Portland with Senator Wagner to celebrate SB3 and talk about next steps.  We will be honoring both Senator Wagner and the other Co-Sponsor, Senator Tim Knopp at our February 7^th legislative luncheon.
