Wyoming Credit Unions Establish Priorities

Kicking off the Wyoming Government Affairs Committee meeting, Wyoming credit union leaders and GoWest team members were hosted at the home of Wyoming Senate President Ogden Driskill at his family’s ranch at the base of Devils Tower. Also joining the group was Senator Eric Barlow from Campbell County and Jackie King, State Director for U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis. The Wyoming GAC met July 18 & 19 in Hulett, WY. The following day the Committee, among other policy discussions, formally adopted the State Issues Working Group (SIWG) “Recommended State & Federal Legislative and Regulatory Priorities for 2024 and beyond”. A special thank you to the SWIG members who dedicated the time and insight to develop that plan. Top priorities for Wyoming Credit Unions include advancing electronic titling and addressing titling inconsistencies, advancing public funds discussions and legislation, continuing to resist interchange and exploring opportunities for access to technology to prevent fraud, expand business lending and exploring options for a state charter.  Several other priorities are included in the plan and will help guide future legislative and policy efforts. Following their discussions, the Committee was joined by House Majority Floor Leader Chip Neiman and was able to discuss several of the credit union priorities including towing and storage fees, financial literacy, and public funds.
