First Time Attendee’s Guide to MAXX 2022
Posted by Katy Wagnon on October 11, 2022
GoWest Credit Union Association’s signature conference, MAXX 2022, is right around the corner! If it’s your first time at MAXX, we’re excited to have you join us! In anticipation of your arrival, we’ve taken out the guesswork on what to expect in our First Time Attendee’s Guide to MAXX 2022.
Before the Conference
Download the GoWest Events app and check out this On the Go Article with tips to help you make the most of the convention. Once you’ve downloaded the app, follow the prompts to create a new account with your credit union email address. In the app, you’ll be able to see the full agenda with room numbers, review and select breakout sessions, map out your Trade Show route, and connect with other attendees.
During MAXX, check the app often for invitations to connect with peers, timely programming updates, and important announcements.
Note: Content will be loaded into the GoWest Events app for MAXX 2022 up until the day before the convention. We suggest downloading the app now and refreshing it the morning of Oct. 25 for the most up-to-date information. If you have any questions about the app please reach out to Ben Shuey.
What to Pack:
- Dress code: Business casual for daytime events. The CU4Kids Auction is Disco-themed, so break out those dancing shoes, bellbottoms, or other disco attire that will get you in the groove to bid high and reflect on the “Good Times.” Bring cocktail or semi-formal attire for the Credit Union Celebration Dinner.
- Change of shoes: There’s a lot of walking at MAXX. Make sure you have more than one pair of comfortable shoes for the busy days ahead. Your feet will thank you.
- Business cards: MAXX is a great opportunity to make new connections, so come prepared with plenty of business cards!
At the Conference
Locate the registration desk at the Spokane Convention Center to pick up your registration packet, which includes your name badge and convention tote. Stop by the desk at any point during the conference for assistance. We are happy to help you locate sessions and answer any questions that come up during your time in Spokane.
Take notes during or immediately after sessions while the content is still fresh in your mind. Please use the MAXX app surveys to let us know what you think of the programming.
Networking events: MAXX is an excellent place for education and offers many opportunities to network with peers. Receptions and Social Hours are designed to help you create lasting professional relationships and meet with hundreds of other credit union professionals.
Leverage technology to connect. The “shake” feature in the MAXX app makes networking easy. For a completely contactless way to exchange business and contact details with a peer, simply shake your phone next to theirs — your information will transfer instantly. You can also schedule a meeting with new contacts right there in the app.
Attend a session that is not directly related to your current responsibilities. You may discover new ideas or collaborators where you least expect them.
When You Get Home
Present right away! Share what you learned with your co-workers, supervisor, board, or staff. This will help you bring your MAXX experience back to your credit union and anchor your new knowledge.
Follow up with the contacts you made while networking.
Offer your suggestions. Shortly after the conference ends, GoWest will email you a brief survey. Please share your feedback!
Make plans to attend your next MAXX. Save the date for Oct. 2-5, 2023, in Spokane, WA for MAXX 2023!
