Job Description:

Basic Responsibilities:
In conformance with established policies and procedures, functions as a liaison between the members and the Credit Union. Interviews existing and potential members in person or by telephone, and explain services, products and policies. Identifies members’ needs and desires and actively cross sells Credit Union services and products courteously and professionally.

Essential Functions:
1. Opens new accounts for new lending membership opportunities, explaining options such as single and joint ownership, right of survivorship, and savings and checking account options available. Prepares all paperwork and data input accurately and assists the member with the signing of documents necessary to open new accounts.
2. Verifies all new account and member information in accordance with OFAC requirements and eligibility rules. Accurately documents member identity.
3. Must have previous consumer lending underwriting.
4. Reviews credit reports identifying opportunities to cross sell Credit Union products and services.
5. Processes and approves/denies all loan requests within established guidelines and assigned limits using sound judgment.
6. Protects Credit Union in all collateralized loans by accurately establishing value.
7. General knowledge of laws and regulations that apply to all pertinent functions including lending.
8. Answers questions and solves problems for members and staff by listening, collecting data, finding answers and following up on details to resolve the matter to the inquiring party’s satisfaction. Offers alternative solutions whenever needed.
9. Educates members on appropriate way to handle credit.
10. The desire to expand his/her knowledge of organizational and departmental needs and requirements and take part in development and realization of organizational goals and objectives in accordance with established deadlines.
11. Initiative to seek out training and educational programs as assigned by management.
12. The ability to handle multiple tasks accurately.
13. Possession of excellent communication skills.
14. Must maintain confidentiality.
15. Other duties as assigned.

4. Willingness to openly communicate with Management.
5. Effectively defuse member complaints and offer resolutions consistent with Credit Union philosophy.
6. Excellent communication skills.

Skills and Abilities Required:
Education: High school graduation required, 2 years college or more preferred.
Experience: At least 5 years of progressively increasing experience in the lending and member service area of a financial institution, preferably a Credit Union.
Skills: The ability to make sound decisions following established guidelines.
Skilled in the use of computers, 10 key machines, and various software programs.
