Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Collections and Account Management (40%)
- Aggressively collect delinquent loans and negative accounts in accordance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and Credit Union policy to maintain acceptable delinquency and loss ratios.
- Perform payments, payment adjustments, and transactions on behalf of members.
- Assist members with alternate payment arrangements, extensions, and special relief provisions.
Member Communication and Support (25%)
- Handle incoming phone calls professionally and resolve member concerns effectively.
- Communicate Credit Union Loss and Reaffirmation policies to members filing for bankruptcy.
- Promote and cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
Collaboration and Team Support (15%)
- Cooperate with co-workers to create a positive working environment.
- Assist with coordinating and performing training for department staff.
- Work directly with outside vendors, including attorneys, repossession agents, and collection agencies.
Reporting and Documentation (10%)
- Maintain detailed collection records, both written and computer-generated.
- Prepare periodic reports on collection activities and monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for management.
Policy Compliance and Process Improvement (10%)
- Maintain familiarity with Credit Union policies, procedures, and state/federal laws related to collections.
- Assist with developing departmental procedures and making charge-off recommendations.
