Five GoWest Member Credit Unions Receive FHLBank San Francisco AHEAD Grants to Support Local Communities

Five GoWest member credit unions are among the recipients of this year’s Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD) grants from the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.

AHEAD grants help financial institutions and community partners create new opportunities in low- to moderate-income communities. Funding supports innovative initiatives that expand proven development models or pilot new approaches to addressing community needs.

Projects supported through AHEAD grants may focus on creating or preserving jobs, delivering job training and education programs, supporting small businesses and microenterprises, or addressing the unique economic development needs of populations including veterans, tribal communities, at-risk youth, individuals with disabilities, and formerly incarcerated individuals.

Grant funding is awarded annually through a competitive application process and distributed through Federal Home Loan Bank member institutions. The program reflects the important role financial institutions play in connecting resources to local communities and advancing long-term economic opportunity.
