Modernization Bill Update
Posted by Brooke Parent on March 18, 2026
HB2979, the Arizona Credit Union Act Update bill, has passed another milestone. The bill was heard in the Senate Finance Committee on Monday, March 16th. Brooke Parent testified in support of the bill and remains non-controversial. The bill received a unanimous vote of 7-0 and now will head to the Senate Rules Committee and then to the full Senate for a vote before it will be in front of Governor Hobbs for her signature.
The next deadline for the legislature is next week; this is the last week for bills to be heard in policy committees in the second chamber. Since HB2979 has passed out of committee, it can be heard on the floor as soon as next week through the end of session. We will continue to provide updates regarding session and the bill’s progress. Session is anticipated to last at least through May at this point.
