Letter to CDFI Fund: Advocating for Information Accessibility and Clarification

In follow-up to GoWest’s November letter advocating for an extension of Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFI) Fund deadlines, GoWest sent a new letter to CDFI Fund Acting Director Dietrich Douglas calling for more access to critical certification information as part of our support for the continued effectiveness of the program in bringing economic prosperity and stability across the nation.

Since the government shutdown, communication regarding certification has primarily come through webinars that are only available live. Additionally, CDFIs with December 31st deadlines only have a brief eight-day window to submit questions to the Office of Certification Policy and Evaluation (OCPE) or the Office of Financial Strategies and Research (FS&R).

GoWest has suggested that the CDFI Fund institute measures that enhance transparency and information accessibility, such as maintaining a frequently updated and prominently displayed FAQ page.

GoWest also continued to press for answers on timelines for grant announcements, the status of multi-year award commitments, the future of the New Market Tax Credit program, and the impact of USDA changes on the CDFI program.
