Columbia Credit Union Invests $100,000 in PeaceHealth’s Vision for Whole-Person Care

Columbia Credit Union has donated $100,000 to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center Foundation’s transformative Healthcare Reimagined Campaign — reinforcing its commitment to community well-being by helping fund safe, compassionate, and socially-informed care. The donation was made during a special check presentation ceremony attended by Columbia Credit Union’s senior leadership team, board of directors, and supervisory committee.

PeaceHealth Southwest recently unveiled its expanded Emergency Department — the busiest on the West Coast — designed to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Southwest Washington community. In addition, PeaceHealth launched the nation’s only Community Health Hub, a groundbreaking initiative that integrates social services directly into the hospital setting. The Hub connects patients facing challenges such as homelessness, mental health issues, food insecurity, domestic violence, and substance abuse with on-site nonprofit partners who provide real-time support and care coordination.

“PeaceHealth Southwest’s innovative approach to whole-person care is truly inspiring — supporting physical, emotional, and financial wellness,” said Lindsey Salvestrin, Columbia Credit Union’s President and CEO. “Their Community Health Hub is a model of compassion and collaboration, addressing not just medical needs but the social determinants of health that impact so many lives. We’re honored to collaborate in their mission of whole-person care, where we can help take care of the financial wellness piece, with PeaceHealth now better able to support the physical and emotional part.”

“We are incredibly grateful to Columbia Credit Union for their partnership in our work to reimagine healthcare,” said Tanya Shanks-Connors, PeaceHealth Southwest’s Chief Nursing Officer. “By joining with other generous supporters to make a collective impact, Columbia CU is making it possible for us to treat the whole person and enhance the health of our community.”

The Community Health Hub is entirely funded through philanthropy and is a cornerstone of PeaceHealth’s $70+ million Healthcare Reimagined Campaign. Since its launch, the Hub has received over 675 referrals, with 83% of patients identifying housing as a primary need and 75% reporting two or more social challenges. This contribution reflects Columbia Credit Union’s enduring commitment to building a healthier, more resilient community where innovation, compassion, and collaboration thrive.
