A Day Off Becomes a Day of Giving at Fibre Federal Credit Union & TLC

While employees at other financial institutions took the day off, Fibre Federal Credit Union and TLC employees used the Oct. 12 federal holiday to assemble 360 care packages for foster kids throughout the credit union’s service area in Southwest Washington and the Oregon Coast. Each bag includes age-appropriate hygiene and comfort items and a personal message of encouragement from a credit union staff or board member.

Supporting foster programs has deep roots in Fibre Federal’s history. For over 30 years, the credit union has partnered with organizations in Cowlitz County through its annual Christmas Tag Program to help fulfill the holiday wishes of foster children.

As the credit union has grown, those partnerships have expanded into additional counties, bringing joy to thousands of local foster children over the years.

This project builds on that longstanding tradition and reflects two of the credit union’s community giving pillars: Youth and Health & Well-being. In the coming weeks, the care packages will be distributed through partner organizations in every county where Fibre Federal & TLC has a financial services center. Children and teens will receive them at intake, as they enter foster care, often after leaving their current living situation with few personal belongings. These gifts will offer a little comfort and a reminder that someone cares during a difficult transition.
