Tucson Federal Credit Union Invests in Youth, Families, and Community Through RAMS Youth Football and Cheer Partnership

For nearly 400 local families, the Southwest Tucson RAMS youth football and cheer program is more than a sports team. It’s a place where young people build confidence, learn teamwork, and create lasting connections. On Aug. 7, Tucson Federal Credit Union (TFCU) celebrated a new partnership with the program at a season kickoff pep rally at Desert View High School, reinforcing its commitment to investing in the well-being of the Tucson community.

As part of the partnership, TFCU will fund the team’s field and lighting fees for the season and provide a new inflatable tunnel for game-day introductions, helping create memorable experiences for athletes while easing financial pressures on participating families.

“Investing in youth is investing in the future of our community,” said Matthew Gaspari, President and CEO, Tucson Federal Credit Union, “and supporting these kids, and their 400 families in this program is the kind of specific impact that’s at the heart of who we are as a credit union.”

The event, hosted by the Desert View Booster Club, brought together players, coaches, cheerleaders, and families for a season-opening practice and pep rally featuring food trucks, a photo booth, and the debut of the new inflatable player tunnel during introductions.

What began as a conversation over several months between TFCU and a RAMS parent about sponsoring a single team turned into an opportunity to make a bigger impact by supporting the entire program.

Southwest Tucson RAMS President Rene Romero, Head Coach Roy Burr, and Desert View High School Football Head Coach Robert Bonillas and Head Cheer Coach Pam Moraga were among those who expressed their appreciation for TFCU’s support. The evening also featured a special appearance by City of Tucson Ward 5 Council Member Selina Barajas.

Partnerships like this reflect TFCU’s commitment to making a meaningful difference for the families and communities it serves.
