Arizona Primary Results

Arizonans voted in the primary election on July 21^st; the Legislature passed a bill to move the primary two weeks earlier, so instead of an August primary, it was held in late July. Arizona primary is a closed election, meaning you may only vote for the party you are registered with. This historically creates lower independent turnout, as they must request a ballot for the party they wish to vote for and are not automatically sent a ballot. This year’s turnout, while not surprising, was the lowest it’s been since 2008, with only 25% turnout. With highly contested races in the November general election, we expect much greater participation.
