NCUA Awards $3.47 Million in Grants to Support Low-Income Credit Unions

The National Credit Union Administration announced June 29 that it has awarded $3.47 million in Community Development Revolving Loan Fund grants to 97 low-income designated credit unions across the country. The funding is designed to help credit unions expand access, strengthen operations, and better serve members in underserved communities.

Grant awards ranged from $1,800 to $100,000 and supported credit unions in 36 states and Puerto Rico. Of the recipients, 79 were small credit unions and 18 were first-time applicants.

Where the Funding Is Going

  • Impact through Innovation: 3 grants totaling $300,000
  • New Charter Capacity Building: 5 grants totaling $175,000
  • Student Internship: 7 grants totaling $175,000
  • Technology, Cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence: 35 grants totaling $752,200
  • Training: 5 grants totaling $103,800
  • Underserved Outreach: 42 grants totaling $1,959,000

These grants are administered by NCUA’s Office of Credit Union Resources and Expansion, which supports credit unions pursuing charter, bylaw, and field-of-membership changes, as well as groups working to organize new credit unions. GoWest Footprint Impact

Within the GoWest footprint, $188,000 in awards were distributed, reflecting continued investment in credit unions that are working to expand financial access and community impact across the region.
