Colorado Senate Committee Advances ASSET Act

Credit union voices again helped advance legislation to provide more tools for financial professionals to combat fraud targeted at elders and vulnerable adults. Yesterday, the Senate Business, Labor, and Technology Committee approved HB 1110 – the ASSET Act – with a vote of 5-0, which now proceeds to the Senate floor where it can be brought forward for a vote.
LaShae Woodard, VP of Financial Crimes at Ent becoming Wings Credit Union shared how credit unions are helping people protect their best life in their later years in her testimony and how important it is that credit unions have this tool to give them more time to stop fraud before it happens. Dr. Eric Chess, clinical professor at University of Denver and healthy aging expert, once again testified in support of the bill, highlighting the importance of giving financial institutions more tools to help stop financial exploitation.
