GoWest Advocates for Extension of CDFI Fund Deadlines
Posted by John Trull on November 17, 2025
The Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) Fund is a critical tool in helping credit unions ensure that communities have access to the investment capital and financial services they need to prosper. However, with the federal government shutdown reaching a historic length, CDFI designated credit unions have been unable to engage with program staff to seek technical clarification, receive information from the department via its website, and appropriately engage in long-term planning.
GoWest sent a letter to the Acting Director of the CDFI Fund to request an extension for recertification and reporting deadlines for at least the length of the shutdown (43 days). The letter also asked for clarification on several important questions for how the shutdown will impact CDFI Fund timelines as it resumes operations.
GoWest will continue to advocate for an extension and clarification from the CDFI Fund as the federal government navigates the reopening of operations from a historic shutdown. If you have questions or want to keep informed of the response from the CDFI Fund, please reach out to Erin Hall, Director of Regulatory Advocacy at GoWest.
